Challenge
Deseret entities recognize challenges in faith coverage: Journalists avoid, self-censor, or neglect faith topics. In the U.S. and Europe, influenced by declining religiosity, news consumers find faith unconventional for mainstream news, deeming bias-free coverage improper. Journalists lack training in addressing faith matters.
Approach
Our Faith and Media Global Index study assesses religion's portrayal by media and public perception. We aim to address coverage gaps, ease pain points, and enhance journalists' skills in handling faith topics. Additionally, we'll support Deseret's efforts through multi-channel release and strategic partnerships.
Results
Establish an online faith insights index for news and faith organizations, shedding light on the underdiscussed faith topics in media. Facilitate culture change by uniting faith and media entities, enhancing coverage and discourse. Ignite collaboration between media and faith organizations to improve coverage.
